常见问题

Can men with zero sperm count have biological children?

Often yes. Obstructive azoospermia (blocked ducts) can be treated with sperm retrieval plus ICSI. Non-obstructive azoospermia (production issues) may still yield sperm with micro-TESE in 40-60% of cases. Donor sperm is an alternative if sperm cannot be retrieved.

Does ICSI increase birth defect risks?

ICSI has a slightly higher rate of certain genetic abnormalities (about 1-2% vs 1% naturally), mostly because male factor infertility itself may have genetic components. PGT can screen for chromosomal abnormalities. Overall, vast majority of ICSI babies are healthy.

Can lifestyle changes improve sperm quality?

Yes, in many cases. Stopping smoking, reducing alcohol, maintaining healthy weight, managing stress, avoiding heat (hot tubs, tight underwear), and certain supplements (antioxidants, CoQ10) can improve sperm parameters over 2-3 months.

What if no sperm is found during TESE?

Options include: repeat micro-TESE (sometimes successful), using donor sperm, or adoption. Genetic counseling is important as some causes of azoospermia may be heritable.
